I’ve been hinting about my new fantasy adventure series for a while, and now it’s time for some real news and cover reveal for Sanguine Scenario. Read on to learn the details.
Sanguine Scenario is the first book in the Sanguine Saga series, featuring competent characters, friendships, blood-based magic, and so much more.
Sanguinist, researcher, and tea connoisseur Nyraleth Aevensong is on an adventure, and she doesn’t like it at all.
Nyraleth had long known that “adventures are what get people killed,” so she avoided them in favor of steady blood magic research and endless pots of tea. Yet, when her friend’s letters stop coming, she sets out (not on an adventure!) to get him out of whatever trouble he’s gotten himself into and drag him back home as soon as possible.
She doesn’t expect to be mixed up with duty bound Oathed, happy-go-lucky rogues, and a conspiracy that goes beyond a blood drinking murderer…
Avoiding adventures might be harder than Nyraleth thought.
There isn’t a firm release date yet, as Sanguine Scenario is coming Kickstarter first!
I’m not a well-known author with a team that can handle a lot of admin and business things, but I have wonderful fans, and they keep asking me about signed books, hardcover versions, and other things, and I think they deserve this kind of treatment. Kickstarter is going to allow me to do everything that and more.
But I know that not everyone wants a fancy hardcover edition with a dust jacket, ribbon bookmark, and sprayed edges, so there will be an e-book and paperback as well, and even a plain hardcover!
Here, take a peek!

To make sure that you don’t miss the launch of the campaign, you can follow it on the prelaunch page. If you already have a Kickstarter account, you can sign in and click “Notify me on launch.”
And if you’re unfamiliar with it, Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform that helps to bring projects to life. It’s not a charity page, and the money raised goes back to backers as rewards they picked. And for authors like me, it’s a great way to make things available that otherwise would be out of my reach because of logistics and costs, like a fancy, jacketed hardcover with ribbon bookmarks, sprayed edges, and other fancy features. Creating an account on Kickstarter is easy and free, and if you decide to back a project, you won’t be charged unless it fully funds.
But let’s get back to the fun stuff! With the book having a hardcover version, there’s going to be a dust jacket with the same design as the ebook and paperback:

and there’s going to be a different design on the “naked” hardcover:

As with Memories of Sorcery and Sand and new covers for Pacts Arcane and Otherwise, those designs were created by me (with creative input from my husband) using 3d and 2d digital tools. It goes without saying that no generative AI (or any other AI for that matter) was used in that process. I’ll share more insights into what went into the creation of those covers (and interior illustrations) at a later date.
In the meantime, you can follow the campaign on Kickstarter, add the book to Goodreads, or read the first chapter!
