The Wordwitch: A Writer’s Life in Pictures – April & May

The Wordwitch

The post-move turbulence affected the Wordwitch as well, and even though the pictures appeared regularly on social media, I missed the April compilation. But nothing’s lost! This month, in return, you get a double amount of the pictures. I hope you’ll enjoy them!

Feedback

I love my beta readers. I love their feedback, no matter whether they react positively or point out some problems with my story.

But good or bad, a lot of feedback coming in can have that stomping effect sometimes. Mostly because I have to sort it all out and merge it, and then come up with solutions that will address the problems.

As this month I’m working on revising my fantasy romance (that gathered some good comments), I’ll have to figure out how to improve certain plot turns to make the story even better.

Do Not Disturb

Moving means being behind with everything, including reading. I still have some paperwork to sort out and other things to catch up on, but then I’m hoping to get some reading time. Not sure which book I’m going to pick, though, my TBR pile is huge.

And you? What are you reading at the moment?

The Wordwitch - Reading

Must Write Words

Sometimes a night or three of broken sleep can do you in, changing you into a functional zombie.

Yet, no matter the brain power deficiency level, one urge reminds strong…

A Matter of Perspective

Being “stuck” in the middle of the writing process can be daunting. But in the end, it’s a matter of perspective.

That Feeling

Last month, I “finished” the first draft of Myth-touched, and last night I finished a short story. Both will need a lot more work until they’re ready, but the feeling of having completed something is always great.

The Meh Monster

Writers fight monsters too. Sometimes they come in the shape of feeling “meh”. Sadly, it seems that this monster can’t be defeated, just chased away, so here goes my next round with him.

Ouch

Recently, I’ve had a very sharp pain in my wrist, an addition to my usual pains that my doctor associates with carpal tunnel syndrome, so I’ve been taking it easy. It also means wearing braces at night, so I don’t sleep on top of my poor wrists, and taking more breaks from my usual activities.

Writer’s Discipline

Revisions can be slow and daunting, and I have plenty to do. This month I’ve been working on polishing a short story, and I still have that fantasy romance to look at, plus half a dozen other projects that need my attention.
Since revisions are much less fun than writing, it requires an extra bit of discipline to ignore that procrastigoblin…

Your “Must Write Words” zombie is pretty much my life! LOL. Thanks for the light moment. 🙂

I hope every now and then you get some rest!

Love your drawings. Congrats on finishing a first draft! 🙂 Finishing a first draft is great. I just did. And I was so happy about it I got anxious. Oh, and now the thing will be observed. And then will come the feedback. Oh joy. Oh angst. Here come the ups and downs of a writing life.

Currently I’m reading Jack of Shadows by Roger Zelazny parallel to Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman parallel to The Great Gatsby.

      Thank you and thank you.
And feedback can be overwhelming, but all in all I love it: it helps me improve my writing, and I have some great beta readers doing brilliant job with getting back to me.

The Meh Monster. So that’s what it’s called. (*lol*) I completely agree that it can only be chased away and not destroyed. It actually paid me a visit when I was working on my novel-in-progress this past week. :/ I can also relate to Perspective and That Feeling – and speaking of which, congratulations on finishing the first draft of Myth-Touched! (I can’t remember if you’ve already mentioned it in a previous post, but I want to make sure I said that. *lol again*)

How are your wrists doing, btw?

    1. Melfka

At least this is what I call it: but I don’t mind the name to spread. At least we’ll all know what everyone’s talking about and how they feel. I hope you got to chase it away and are happily writing again.
My wrists are getting better. I’m taking it easy and sleep in my braces which seems to help.
