Two Stories of Mine in a Polish Anthology

Yesterday was the release day for a Polish anthology, Memento. Opowiadania o życiu i śmierci. (Memento. Stories About Life and Death) by RW 2010 Publishing House. Inside, you can read not one, but two of my stories. Bębniarz pana Roache (Mr. Roache’s Drummer) addresses the theme of death in a quasi-steampunk setting, while Siedem procent szans (Seven-Percent Chance) deals with living.

The editor, Dawid Juraszek about Memento:

In this daring anthology, seven authors in fourteen stories tackles two important topics. They do so with courage, with sense of humor, with terror, with sadness, and with hope. Memento vivere, memento mori.

Agnieszka Hałas remembers, going from the mundane life to the poetry of death and back, in a familiar world standing at an unknown end. Joanna Maciejewska remembers, searching for the boundaries between good and evil, damnation and salvation, easiness and toil. Grzegorz Piórkowski remembers, between impossible choices marking his paths to illusory happiness and love. Hanna Fronczak remembers, abandoning known concepts of the afterlife and reaching out toward the new ones. Bartłomiej Dzik remembers, weaving a story of monks, mages, and monsters. Katarzyna Kowalewska remembers, painting the times we wouldn’t like to live in, but perhaps we will have to. Dawid Juraszek remembers, casting his characters at the the crossroads of the world and existence. You can remember too.

Thank you, Sarah! I’ve been sitting on this news for a while, eager to share it, but the anthology had some delays, so I had to wait till I knew the date.

I HATE it when that happens! I’m so delighted for you:))

It was partially the authors’ fault: we took so long getting the stories to the editor that we missed the window and had to wait.

Ah well… That probably made the wait easier to bear.
