Joanna’s 3D Art: November & December 2024

Back in March 2022, a writer friend introduced me to 3D art and rendering, and ever since, I’ve been exploring it, teaching myself the intricacies of producing good renders such as posing, lighting, and post work. In December 2022, I decided it was time to share what I accomplished, so I started posting images I created to social media.

This post collects all the pieces from the two month period, and I intend for it to be a start of a recurring series for all those who are too busy to keep up with social media posts. If you’d rather see them as they come, new images are posted on my Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Bluesky, Threads, and Mastodon every Wednesday.

You can view all the posts by browsing the 3D Art category.

Only One

Rows of identical creatures with a spotlight shining at only one of them.

Back during the spooky season, several people were wondering about the little creature from the Happy Afterlife render, and I promised I’d share it with a different texture. Here it is, “Only One,” inspired by picking a perfect plush toy out of a lineup of identical toys.

Generations

Three witches, an child, a woman, and an old woman, in an old house.

I wasn’t entirely happy with it, but as always, I learned useful things while making it, so it’s a win.

Tranquility

A man meditating in front of a painting. Behind him, black tentacles swirl.

The idea for this image came to me immediately when I saw this setting and the round-shaped doorway (from which I removed the actual door). It took some trial and error to get everything right (especially the light), but I’m happy how it turned out.

The Mechanic

A woman in a mechanic outfit holding a wrench with machinery behind her.

As usual, I just played around with 3d models with no particular inspiration, but I’m sure you can see echoes of certain Serenity mechanic in her.

Melancholy

An android woman leaning against a railing.

I made it when I was testing a new outfit. The light was an experiment, but I think it turned out ok.

Winter Pounce

A winged woman and a lynx in a snowy landscape.

It wasn’t my favorite, and it took a lot of postwork to make it look decent, but I figured sometimes I should share some art that I don’t think is the best. Perhaps someone will like it anyway.

Happy Holidays

A Christmas tree in the middle of heaps of gold with a golden dragon on top of it. The text behind the tree reads "happy holidays".

It was just a quick render for my holiday wishes post, but I had fun with it.

I hope you enjoyed this collection. Which one is your favorite? And remember, new images are posted on my Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Bluesky, Threads, and Mastodon every Wednesday.
