The Wordwitch: A Writer’s Life in Pictures – January

The Wordwitch (which got its name thanks to Myk Pilgrim) is a series of drawings I started back in January 2017. At first, it was one image, but soon more ideas followed and my notebook filled with more pictures. As I just recently launched my Facebook Page, it seemed a good time to start sharing them.

These drawings appear weekly on Tuesdays, on social media under the #thewordwitch hashtag, and are a monthly roundup post here. I hope you’ll enjoy them.

Giving Ideas

Talking to other creatives means a lot of positive energy and brainstorming.
I talk to JR Bee on a regular basis, and whenever we share thoughts or inspirations, she’s quick to point out something is a very good idea and I should make it happen(the sooner the better, of course).

Zombie Potatoes

I guess I should leave this one without any comments, but well… It’s a true story.

Acceptance to Rejections Rate

This one is slightly different, a bit more somber maybe, but it’s still part of a writer’s life.

Friends often ask me “why aren’t you published?” as if it was solely up to me. I can only try to write the best stories I can, but the rest is out of my hands.

Rejection letters are something every writer gets (even the ones who are already established!), and the acceptance rate from the best magazines is usually below 0.1{fd816789381be2b25dc0c4c24e83c7c5d878f14214e162ad1afaed77eed2e013}.

This is my ratio for short stories submissions 2017. Several times I got really close, but these still ended up as “red” (except for one time when I was invited to rewrite and resubmit – that also happens very rarely).

Which Is More Important?

I really try to do my dishes (and other chores) on time, but sometimes… you know, right?

NOPE

There are days when you need a break, and there are days when you better take that break or life will break you instead.

On days like that, I’m floating on a big NOPE. It seems safer this way.

I know I see the word witches as they come out, but I still like to see them as a collection 🙂

Thank you :). Maybe one day I’ll make one huge gallery out of them. 😉

Lol, add it to the list 😀

          The dreaded list… 😛

Yes… as J.R. Bee mentioned – this would make a wonderful gallery of smashing images:). I have a very soft spot for the Zombie Potatoes, I’m just hoping it isn’t the precursor to The Night of the Undead Mash…

“The Night of the Undead Mash” made my day, Sara! 😀
As for the gallery, once I get around to renovating my site, I’ll be sure to include it.

Hmmmm. Which is more important? Dusting the condo? Cleaning the bathroom? Or WRITING YES PLEASE. XD I can definitely relate to that one!

As for Zombie Potatoes and Sarah’s Night of the Undead Mash, would a notebook and a pen cure you of those nightmarish spuds? (I’m sure you have a method for dealing with them – I just couldn’t help but keep the humor going.)

This Wordwitch post was a lot of fun to read. The others have been, too, but after a particularly frustrating day, this made me laugh in a very therapeutic way. 🙂

Thankfully, the potato horrors were more in the gaping “what the heck?!” department than the nightmarish one.
I’m glad that the Wordwitch made you laugh – I draw them for fun and in hopes they’ll make someone smile, so reading they did made my day. 🙂
